Itinerary
The beginning of our Marrakech to Fes desert tour will be around 08:00 from Marrakech crossing The Atlas Mountains to Dades Gorges via Tizi n'Tichka pass throughout the Atlas Mountains. After 4 hours driving in the mountains, we will get to the impressive landscapes and Berber villages, we will have a stop to visit The Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. Those old Kasbahs have been used old Caravan routes and its a very important destination for international filmmakers for more than 20 films was also one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old Salt Road where caravans brought slaves, gold, ivory, salt, and silk from sub-Saharan countries to Marrakech and beyond. After Ait Ben Haddou we will continue to Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) since it's has been as well a very famous city for filmmakers, Gladiator, The Mummy and other films were shot here. After Ouarzazate, we will continue driving to Dades Gorges, trough Mgouna, Skoura and serval Berber villages around the valley.
After the breakfast and taking shower, we will start the 2nd on our adventure going from Dades to the Erg Chebbi Sahara desert. Many different Berber villages are scattered along the way, we’ll pass through Tenghir, Tinjdad, Jorf and we will have stop and walk on Todra Gorges (One of the most spectacular canyons in the world). After Todra gorges we will continue to Erfoud in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis and villages, then we continue driving to Merzouga desert, after having a rest we will go to ride the camels who will take us on a desert adventure into the sand dunes. We will spend the night in at the desert camp ( Nomad Berber tents ) with drums music in the middle of the Sahara, this is a great opportunity to take amazing pictures of the sunset and sunrise over the sand dunes. Dinner, Berber music at the camp.
Our guide at the camp will wake you up early in the morning to watch the sunrise then we will ride the camels back to Merzouga, after taking shower and breakfast we'll start our tour to Fes. We will have some stops on the road to enjoy having tea or some pictures at Ziz Valley before passing through the Middle Atlas mountains. We will stop by a Midelt where we'll have lunch. Medilt is a very impressive mountain city at 1488m of altitude, situated down the Jbel Ayachi (3737 m). In the afternoon we'll continue to the legendary city of Fes by stopping in Ifrane and Azrou (Cedar Forest).
